Winter Preparedness Tips & Resources for the City of San Antonio

We hope everyone is cozy in their home & safe from the Arctic front. With freezing temperatures expected to last through Wednesday, January 17th, it’s important to make sure you properly prepare your home to prevent damage.
San Antonio Water System has shared some tips to follow.
Minimize Damage in a Freeze
Protect your home and property when temperatures dip below freezing. Use these tips to identify and protect areas that could be vulnerable to freeze damage.
Prepare irrigation systems, pools, hose bibs, and other exposed outdoor systems by covering them.
Turn off irrigation systems at the shut-off valve.
Check that all in-ground boxes have covers or fill space with rags.
Insulate above-ground backflow device.
Prep your pool by keeping the pump working during the freeze, covering exposed pool equipment, and disconnecting the hose connector if attached.
Wrap pipes in unheated areas.
